Edna G. Smeltzer

Martinsburg

Edna G. Smeltzer, 91, formerly of Roaring Spring, went home to be with the Lord Saturday evening Oct. 9, 2021, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Roaring Spring, the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Ida M. (Walter) Smeltzer.

She is survived by six nephews: David W. Lingenfelter (Lou) of Etters, K. Ronald Shaw (Mitzie) of St. Peters, MO, Carl S. Pote (Nancy) of New Bloomfield, John A. Walter (Brenda) of Plant City, Fla., Joseph W. Walter (Lynette) of Martinsburg, and Donald S. Pote (Holly) of Linden; and 11 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Lingenfelter, Kathryn Pote, Elva Pearl Shaw, and G. Maxine Walter.

Edna was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Roaring Spring and also attended the Homewood Chapel.

She was a 1949 graduate of Morrison Cove High School and retired from the Roaring Spring Blank Book Co. after 39 years of service. She previously had worked at the Roaring Spring Movie Theater. Edna enjoyed visiting with family, country music, traveling, and working in her yard. She was always helping her family and friends.

A funeral was held Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021, in the Barley Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark A. Lingenfelter officiated. Interment followed in Holsinger Cemetery, Bakers Summit.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edna’s memory may be given to the Barley Lutheran Church or Gospel Music Time at WJSM Radio.
