Coffee lovers of Williamsburg united to support two of their own at Biddle’s Brewing grand opening.
The coffee truck opened up shop Saturday, Oct. 23, in Williamsburg at 8 a.m.
The coffee truck was a collaborative project by husband and wife Mike and Britt Biddle.
The idea first came over a year ago when they were gifted with an espresso maker. From there, they wanted to try new drinks and recipes, using their family for testing.
Through the Biddle’s Brewing Facebook page, the couple showed their journey to the community, including the changes made to their truck.
The weekend before opening, they showed a preview of their drinks by catering a wedding.
Even before officially opening the morning of Oct. 23, a line was already forming, according to Mike.
“We have been making coffee nonstop since 7:58 a.m.,” he said.
Finally being able to open proved to be a relief for Britt, who said it still “didn’t feel real.”
Along with hot and iced coffee, Biddle’s Brewing carries hot chocolate, tea, specialty drinks and baked goods.
For their opening day, the Biddles’ specialty drinks were half price. These flavors include pumpkin spice and lavender vanilla.
Dairy alternatives such as oat milk and almond milk were also available.
The Williamsburg community came and showed their support. At one point in the day, there were 30 people in line, despite the rainy weather.
“I think this is a good thing to have,” Levi Hess said. “We have enough of everything else. We need a new place for coffee instead of a convenience store.”
Kim Liberman said it was about time something like Biddle’s Brewing came to the town.
“It brings us into the 21st century,” she said. “I’ve been waiting for a change in town.”
By closing time at 1 p.m., the Biddles found that they had been so popular, that they would need more supplies.
“We ran out of just about all of our stuff,” Mike said. “So I think it went really well.”
“The town and their support really means so much to us,” Britt said. “I can’t wait to continue with them.”
On social media, customers shared photos and reviews of their drinks.
For now, Biddle’s Brewing is only open Saturdays and Sundays, but they hope to expand in the future.
“We either want to open Wednesday mornings or Fridays,” Mike said.
After the day was done, the Biddles showed their appreciation.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for coming out to be here,” the Biddles wrote on their Facebook page.
The community of Williamsburg continued to congratulate them throughout the day.
“I think this really enlightens the community,” Shane Brantner said.
