New Flights Not Likely

The Blair County Airport Authority learned that the addition of flights to eastern destinations did not appear likely in the near future. Authority members were told that USAir had no interest in beginning flights to destinations like Philadelphia.
On October 18 1.80 inches of rain were recorded at the Blair County Airport.
The Spring Cove School District administration was planning to look into why 38 children from 23 families were being homeschooled instead of attending the public schools in the district. The number represented 1.7 percent of the student population, up from 0.6 percent being homeschooled the previous year. The district was losing $90,000 in state reimbursement because it could not report them as members.
Folk singers Peter, Paul, and Mary were scheduled to perform for the Blair County Civic Music Association on November 2 at the Roosevelt Junior High School in Altoona.
