NB Senior's Eagle Scout Project Brings AEDs to SCSD

Aaron Reynolds is a member of the Martinsburg Boy Scout Troop 358. Aaron, a senior at Northern Bedford High School, recently earned his Eagle Scout award.

Reynolds' basis for his Eagle Scout project was to raise funds to purchase AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) and raise awareness of sudden heart related fatalities. He wanted to purchase the AEDs to honor a family friend who had passed away at a young age, Joseph Chonko.

Reynolds set a goal to raise enough money to purchase two AEDs through his Eagle Scout project. Reynolds wanted to donate one AED to the Central High School Athletic Department, and one AED to Camp Mantowagan. These were 2 organizations that Chonko was very involved in.

On Oct. 18, Reynolds was recognized by the Spring Cove School District Board of Directors for his gracious donation of an AED through his Eagle Scout project.

The AED Reynolds donated will be placed in the SCSD Police Cruiser, which will now be equipped to provide life-saving aid to those suffering from sudden cardiac issues when they occur outside of the school buildings.
