Republicans Hold Meeting
Herald of Oct. 21, 1921
County committeemen and Republican men and women were urged to attend a special meeting in the court house to arrange a change in voting rules in time for next election. Present rules of the party allowed each precinct to have two representatives, limited to men only. A plan to amend the rules so that women could be included and participate in the campaign and election in the coming year was the urgency of the county meeting.
To conserve the water supply, borough citizens were notified by the water committee to discontinue the use of water for sprinkling streets until further notice.
William C. Johnson, 43, son of Mrs. S.S. Johnson of Martinsburg, left his home in South Lakemont Thursday noon for fishing along the Juniata River. When he failed to return to his wife and five children, a search was organized, and the body was located in a deep hole the following Sunday afternoon.
