The Williamsburg Blue Pirates’ football team snapped a 27-game losing streak with a 20-8 victory over Turkeyfoot Valley. The last time WHS won was Oct. 15, 1993, when it toppled Tussey Mountain 22-6.

Karen Greenwood and Sandra Greenleaf were installed as copresidents of the Spring Cove Women’s Club.

Ann Chonko of Martinsburg RR 1, a member and former president of the Classic Ribbons 4-H Horse Club, qualified to go to the State 4-H Horse Show at Harrisburg. Miss Chonko and her Arabian horse placed first in the pleasure driving class of the District 4-H Horse Show at Somerset to qualify for the state show.

Northern Bedford High School was invited by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to participate in an integrated pest management demonstrational greenhouse program. NB was one of only five high school greenhouses in the state to receive the curriculum and money to teach IPM.
