Martinsburg
John H. Brumbaugh, 79, Martinsburg, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 12, 2021, at UPMC Altoona.
He was born May 16, 1942, in Saxton, son of the late Howard "Shorty" John and Cora Alberta (Moore) Brumbaugh. On Dec. 29, 1972, he married Rebecca J. Saylor in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 48 years; four sons: John H. Jr. in Ohio, Robert J. of Altoona, Daniel R. (Brianne) of Roaring Spring and Thomas J. (Leslie Wilson) of Altoona; a daughter, Tracy Lynn Brumbaugh of Huntingdon; 16 grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and a sister, Rachel Strayer of Marklesburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas J. Brumbaugh and two sisters: Shirley Strayer and Loretta Jean Lagle.
John attended school in Huntingdon and served in the PA Army National Guard for over six years. He was a member of the former Yellow Springs Lutheran Church and a current member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg.
He was employed for five years at Proctor Silex Altoona, where he molded plastic and was a set up man. John also worked at Elco Corp. in Huntingdon for five years, where he served as a jack of all trades.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and doing genealogy.
A funeral service was held Friday, September 17, 2021, at Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Willliamsburg. Brother Thomas Hanks officiated. A private interment was held at Yellow Springs Lutheran Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
