South Woodbury Twp. to Move Meetings to Evening

Sept. 7, 2021, the South Woodbury Township board of supervisors met. There were also two residents of New Enterprise at the meeting.

The office will be closed Sept. 20 through Sept. 24, 2021, for vacation.

A liquid fuels audit was done on Aug. 3. The balance was accurate and placed on file.

Roadmaster Rick Musselman reported Memory Lane blacktop was reviewed and checked for a problem.

Bridge #5, which is in located next to the Johnson property, was inspected on Aug. 6, and it was noted that concrete was coming off the sides. The concrete must be repaired by Jan. 31, 2022.

An ESM Training for dirt, gravel and low volume road training was announced. This will be one full day or two remote learning half days. Anyone may attend and those who do will get a 5-year certification. For more information contact the township office.

The sewage management program reported 16 inspections done and one percolation inspection.

The International truck is in progress of being repaired with new wiring harness.

Ordinance 2021-01 was approved for publication. This is an ordinance of the South Woodbury Township regulating parking within the right of way of Lunenburg Road (T-596), providing penalties and establishing an effective date. This was approved for the effective date of Sept. 7, 2021. The location is the entire length from the northern intersection with Woodbury Pike to the intersection with Mountain View Drive.

The supervisors allowed for momentarily halting of a vehicle for loading or unloading property or passengers.

The 2022 draft budget was approved for publication.

The 2021 Bedford County Township Officials Association Convention will be held on Oct. 18 at 9 a.m. in Breezewood.

Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Company Financial Statement was reviewed. It was agreed by the supervisors to release money for spring and fall at the next township meeting to the fire company.

A cybersecurity inservice invitation was sent, and Secretary Rachel White will attend on Sept. 15.

Jack Hall, who was a Navy Veteran and served from 1974-1978, will be added to the township’s memorial wall.

The 2020 Census results showed New Enterprise population is decreased by 3.3 percent, which is a loss of 72 individuals in the last ten years.

Monthly bills and treasurer report were reviewed and approved. Total liabilities and equity is $2,391,117. The Wastewater Treatment Facility has a balance of $6,837,029.

It was discussed to have meeting moved to evening hours. The supervisors agreed that in January, they will make this change.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 9 a.m.
