Oak Alley Ownership Comes into Question

Oak Alley in Catharine Township was the topic of discussion at last Thursday evening’s Catharine Township meeting.

There was a question about the new 10-ton weight limit sign that was put up into the alley. An individual added a 9 over top the 0 – to make it a 19 ton weight limit, rather than the 10. Chairman Heather Flaig filed a police report about the sign, and asked Roadmaster Michael Fay to take the sign down and replace it with another 10-ton weight limit sign.

There was also a question as to who the owner of the alley was. Through research, Township Solicitor Patrick Finelli sent in an email that following the 1986 paving of the alley by the Township and their maintaining of the alley, it will “continue to be a public alley.”

PennDOT sent out their annual Winter Maintenance Agreement with regard to Fox Run – part of their 5-year plan with the township to do winter maintenance on road. The price increased this year to PennDOT paying Township $13,002 for winter maintenance.

Roadmaster Michael Fay said he was going to get “no parking for snow removal” signs for township roads and see how it works out this year. The township also threw around idea of contacting Williamsburg police to see if they could reach agreement for citing cars.

Fay also discussed with the supervisors about getting street lights for Fox Run, Canoe Mountain and Cross Valley – an estimated cost of $200 per light if there was already a pole; $600 would be total.
