Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
Do you have a story to tell about someone connected to the Claysburg Area? Here is your chance. Claysburg PAST will be creating a profile of people from the Claysburg Community into a book format called “Passports of Claysburg, PA” as part of a new history project and preserving history.
There is a story to tell about everyone! It can be funny, sad, inspirational, heroic or whatever story you want to tell. Our minds are filled with people and stories from our lives. They are memorable, and it is time to share some of them.
Claysburg PAST will be publishing a book and posting some stories on the website about people of the Claysburg Area. Those who have a story to tell about a relative or friend, can submit it for inclusion with a $10 donation. The half-page story plus a photo – if there is a photo available – can be a story or a history of a person. The story can be about their life or one story about an event.
It can be a veteran, a family member, a teacher who inspired you, a friend or a neighbor or someone who did a good deed. It must be written in good taste, and Claysburg PAST reserves the right to edit or reject if needed. If the person is still living, their permission must be obtained before publishing. However, most will be published in the format submitted.
There are a lot of people out there who deserve the recognition, and there are great stories to tell.
While the Claysburg Hall of Fame only covers a maximum of 5 people per year, there are many who deserve to have their story told.
The first book publication will have a maximum of 400 people listed. On the http://www.claysburg.us Passport webpage are a few samples to give an idea of what the group will be using for a format.
Information will be done on-line at the following link: https://www.claysburg.us/passports-of-claysburg.html. Those who do not feel comfortable filling out the information online, may obtain a manual form at the Claysburg Library and complete it.
Participants may submit as many stories as they like at $10 each. Submitters can pay via Pay Pal using a regular debit or credit card. You do not need a Pay Pal account. Payment can also be made with a check with the manual form payable to Claysburg PAST.
Each entry is a maximum of 1/2 page of 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches. The main story part should equate to approximately 15 sentences or 200 words. The online form below does not limit to the 15 sentences, so those submitting will need to count the amount of sentences.
A photo of the person can be included at no extra charge.
