Roaring Spring Motorcyclist Leads Police on Chase

A Roaring Spring man has been arrested after police said he failed to pull over for a traffic stop and led police on a pursuit.

According to Greenfield Township police, on the evening of July 12, an officer was parked along Dunnings Highway and Lawn Drive when a motorcycle that police said was operated by Scott M. Davis, 28, passed by at a high rate of speed. Police said the motorcycle did not have an attached registration plate.

When police activated the emergency lights and siren, Davis allegedly sped up. Freedom Township police joined the pursuit as the motorcycle turned onto Pawpaw Road. Police said they were able to catch up to the motorcycle when it turned onto a dirt road and became momentarily stuck. The motorcycle was able to free itself before police could reach it and the chase continued until the front left tire on the cruiser blew out.

Police said they could hear the motorcycle idling on the dirt road and the officer attempted to catch up to it on foot, but it took off again.

Later that evening, police reviewed the cruisers dash cam video and said they were able to identify Davis as the operator of the motorcycle. Police said Davis also had an active warrant through the Blair County Sheriff’s Office.

Davis is facing a felony charge of fleeing and attempting to allude police as well as misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock. Police also filed multiple summary charges including operating an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license, driving while operating privileges are suspended, failure to drive at a safe speed, and reckless and careless driving.

Davis was arraigned by Martinsburg Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger and released on $50,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5 in front of Blattenberger.
