Penny N. Mountain

Penny N. Mountain, 74, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021, at UPMC Altoona, after a long battle with Lymphoma.

She was born April 1, 1947, in Roaring Spring, the daughter of the late Irwin Paul and Doris Jean (Swoope) Neterer. She married Paul V. Mountain May 18, 1968.

She is survived by her husband; three children: Shawn Mountain and wife Angela of Ambler, Inga Mountain and husband Marcus Travitzki of Landsdale, and Dane Mountain and wife Missi of Blandon; and five grandchildren: Kylie, Tessa, Julian, Peyton, and Noah.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Trudy Frye.

Penny was a member of Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, where she was an active member of the Agape Sunday School Class. She was a 1965 graduate of Central High School and attended a medical training school in Washington D.C. Penny retired from the Spring Cove School District as a teacher's aide after many years of service. She was previously employed as a medical secretary for Dr. Neidorff in Altoona.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, canning, flowers, and she especially loved keeping in touch with her family and special friends.

Penny had volunteered and served as troop leader for the Girlscouts of America Troop 617 and following her retirement she was also actively involved in the Scarlet Dragon Packs program within the Spring Cove School District.

It was Penny's wish that her body be donated to science and research.

A memorial service was held Monday, July 12, in the Memorial Church of the Brethren. Eric Martin officiated.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Penny's memory may be given to Memorial Church of the Brethren, 210 N. Wall Street, Martinsburg, PA 16662 or the Martinsburg Community Library, 201 S. Walnut Street, Martinsburg, PA 16662.
