Central Cove FFA Members Compete in 2021 FFA Events

Eight members of the Central Cove FFA Chapter took part in the PA State FFA competitions during several days in May. All contests were held virtually this year due to the cancellation of an in-person state convention.

Central's land use team placed second in the state. Team members included Lily Sollenberger (second-place individual and plaque winner), daughter of Eric and Jamie Sollenberger of Curryville; Sam Stahl, son of Sam and Tobi Stahl of Williamsburg; and Keller Metzker, son of Wes and Sherry Metzker of Williamsburg. All three members earned gold medal recognition.

The dairy evaluation team placed third in the state. Members of the team included Madison Benfer, daughter of Mike and Melissa Benfer of Curryville (silver medal); Katheryn Longenecker, daughter of Doug and Yvette Longenecker of Williamsburg (silver medal); Mason Benfer, son of Mike and Melissa Benfer of Curryville (bronze medal); and Faith Brumbaugh, daughter of Keith and Melissa Brumbaugh of Martinsburg.

Ashley Sollenberger, daughter of Eric and Jamie Sollenberger of Curryville, earned a silver medal in the employment skills event while Keller Metzker earned gold medal recognition in extemporaneous public speaking. Keller was also a candidate for state FFA officer.
