Palmer E. Sweeney Jr., 78 of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his residence.
He was born Sept 2, 1942, in Altoona, son of the late Palmer Sr. and Marie (Deyarmin) Sweeney.
He is survived by a brother, Donald; and a nephew, Scott Sweeney, both of Williamsburg; step-children: Lugene Byrnes and Cindy Stevanus; a sister-in-law, Gloria Sweeney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his companion of 53 years, Shirley Hamilton.
Palmer graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1960, and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 until 1964.
He retired from Roaring Spring Paper Products after more than 40 years as a paper cutter.
Palmer was a member of the American Legion Post 456 in Williamsburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being an outdoorsman with his dog, Nikki.
Friends will be received from 3 until 5 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg (www.sorgefuneralhome.com), where a funeral service will immediately follow at 5 p.m. Interment will be at Royer Cemetery.
