Greenfield Township Looking for Pavement Bids

Greenfield Township is seeking bids to pave Evergreen Road, Locust Street, Mansion Drive, Spruce Street, Hickory Street and Walnut Street from Old 220 to Bedford Street and Bedford Street to the bridge. Bids will be accepted until 3 p.m. on July 6, and opened at the board of supervisor’s meeting that evening.

Eleven new trees were planted at the community park and township office, Matt Treon, board chair and the township’s road foreman, reported during the supervisor’s meeting on June 1.

A new piece of playground equipment was installed at the community park, according to Treon.

Twenty-one tons of garbage and nearly 23 tons of scrap metal were collected during the township’s annual cleanup day on April 24, Treon said. The event was made possible with the help of 17 community volunteers.

Board members discussed upgrading the surveillance system at the community park, upgrading internet service at the township’s properties and digitizing the township’s paper records, but tabled action on all three items until a future date.

Claysburg Community Days will be held on Aug. 14 and 15.

The township received $1,003 from the Municipal Assistance Program (MAP) “for the administration costs of the floodplain ordinance” in 2020, according to Arlene Kuntz, secretary-treasurer. Municipalities can apply “for up to a 50 percent reimbursement,” she stated.

The award was one of 33 announced by Governor Tom Wolf on April 30. The program “provides communities with the funding they need to accomplish the day-to-day work of zoning and planning, as well as facilitating the services and critical functions that people often rely on without realizing it,” Wolf said in a news release
