Soldiers Return Home

Herald of June 13, 1946

Richard H. Loose and Donald R. Stoudnour returned to their homes in Martinsburg after serving approximately two years in the Pacific. Loose was to begin training as an apprentice printer at the Herald the next week. Stoudnour was returning home to his wife and son.

Mrs. Joan Irene Sollenberger, English wife of Grover R. Sollenberger of Fredericksburg, arrived in Morrisons Cove after a 12-day voyage across the Atlantic. Mr. And Mrs. Harry E. Burket of Martinsburg received notice that their son, Staff Sergeant Harry E. Burket was presumed dead after a year of being missing.

The old Lutheran Church of Martinsburg, located on the rear of the property of Charles O. Acker on East Allegheny Street, was being torn down to make a place for a two-car garage.

The price of milk and cream was raised one cent at the meeting of Altoona milk dealers.

John M. Replogle of Martinsburg arrived home from the Navy.
