The Rev. Chris Bowman of Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, and the Rev. David Steele, youth pastor, baptized 10 persons in a special outdoor service in Clover Creek at the Samuel and Carolyn Dean residence, Martinsburg RR 1.

Tina Marie Sell of Duncansville, a 1980 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School, wrote and published her own 15-page, paperback children’s book entitled ‘Megan Goes to Brat City.” The illustrator was Mark Bollinger of Altoona.

Crystal Goodman was named Williamsburg junior fire queen. Nikita Leonard was named mini queen and Jarrett Dopp mini king.

Brenda Fluke of Roaring Spring RR1 won the Business and Professional Women’s District 5 Young Careerist competition in Johnstown.

The Martinsburg and North Woodbury Township police departments and Martinsburg Rotary Club sponsored a bicycle rodeo. Thirty-eight children participated.
