Woodbury Celebrates Holiday
Herald of June 10, 1921
The Woodbury Imperial Band played a big part in making Memorial Day a success. Together with the various church schools, surviving war veterans and outsiders, a 50-car parade motored to area cemeteries and placed flowers and flags on the graves of loved ones. Addresses were delivered by Atty. E.M. Pennell of Bedford, Lutheran pastor Gephart, Henry Walters and Howard Keiper. A noon meal followed at the public school ground for 300 or more persons. A festival arranged by the Civic Club was the evening attraction for a large gathering. It was hoped by the majority that the event would become an annual affair.
For the next 15 days, C.L. Longenecker would pay 16 cents a pound for wool delivered to the mill at Waterside.
Herbert Bridenbaugh wired the Kreider and Brenneman homes on N. Market Street for electric lights.
Clarence Snyder contracted for the Star mail route between New Enterprise and Roaring Spring for the next term.
