Senior's Project Brings 6-Hole 'Disc Golf' to Memorial Park

The inspiration for Central High School student Jacob Dick's senior project was simple: he liked disc golf and he wanted to have a course near his home.

The criteria for Dick's senior project was "put effort into a project and put it into a slide show."

Dick took this opportunity to give something to the community. Located at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, Dick's six-hole disc golf course was designed and assembled by him, with some help from friends and family.

"I had help from my parents Jason and Rebekah Dick, my brother Jarod Dick, disc golf course designer Eric Keim, my girlfriend Joslyn Frazier, and my two friends Kiera Berkheimer and Ethan Dilling," said Dick.

Dick started this project by going to his manager at the pool, Kelly Marks, and asking her to take his idea to the board. After the idea was approved, Dick went around to local businesses and asked them to donate to his project. Donors have their business signs – some with the name of a 2021 senior – at the holes.

"As of right now the course isn't completely done, so in the future, we are going to put hole signs up, along with a sign at the beginning," said Dick.

Currently, the course layout is on the popular disc golf app, UDisc.
