Henrietta
Thomas Emory Bowers, Jr., 65, of Henrietta, passed away peacefully at home Sunday night, May 2, 2021, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 1, 1956, in Roaring Spring the son of the late Thomas Bowers, Sr .; and his mother, Beverly (Emery) Stock and husband Phillip of Henrietta. He married Vickie M. Dick April 7, 1979, in Roaring Spring.
He is survived by his wife; three children: Heather Wenerick (Greg Potter) of Williamsburg, Brandy Moyer (Cory) of Roaring Spring, and Adam Bowers (Christa Steep) of Henrietta; 10 grandchildren, Emily (Zack), Jaaden (Matt), Camdyn, Brylee, Nathan, Ryan, James, Makenzie, Colleen, and Ricky; two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Huxley; four siblings: Andrea Horton (Mike) of Martinsburg, Todd Stock (Deanna) of Henrietta, Tim Bowers (Sue) of Ohio, and Lon Bowers (Laura) of West Virginia; many nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law, Levi Dick of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, an infant granddaughter, Halyn; six other infant grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Shirley Dick.
Thomas attended Faith Assembly, Roaring Spring. He was a 1974 graduate of Central high School and upon graduation, entered the United States Army where he attained the rank of Staff Sargent. He served active duty from 1974 until 1978; National Guard from 1978 until 1982; and then active duty from 1982 until 1992 where he served in the Gulf War.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting guns and knives, and he especially loved taking his grandchildren out and teaching them how to hunt and fish. Thomas was a member of the Henrietta Sportsmens Club and a life member of the Duncansville V.F.W. And the NRA.
Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, at the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Target One Ministries, 3898 Cove Mountain Rd., Martinsburg, PA 16662, by Pastor Phil Waite and lay minister, Ralph Spencer.
