Hollidaysburg's Springfest Back With Races, Live Music, Sales

Spring is here and that means Hollidaysburg's Springfest will be here soon as well.

Springfest is set for Saturday, May 15, beginning around 8 a.m. with the YMCA Diamond Dash, a race that is done every year.

There will also be a kid's race. It will be a short race and the kids will get a certificate for participating.

The Hollidaysburg Area High School Drumline will perform at 9:45 a.m.

The stores will open around 10 a.m. Most will stay open until about 2 p.m. and will have specials throughout the day.

There will also be two more musical performances along with Storytime with Miss Melanie from The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library.

Sarah Baumbach, Vice President of The Hollidaysburg Community Partnership said that it is a day that we are promoting the downtown businesses.

"We do that by partnering with local groups and organizations so that people can come downtown, visit some of the stores and listen to some music," she said.

"It always has been well received," Baumbach said. "In 2019, it was a pretty big event with a performance by Jimmy Mowery."

Baumbach said that because of restrictions, they had to pare back a little bit this year, but it should still be a nice day.

"We are excited as a partnership to start having events again after the pandemic. We have heard from a lot of people that say that they are excited about getting into town, too," she said.

To keep up to date on the events for Springfest, visit the events page at Facebook.com/HollidaysburgCommunityPartnership, where they will be sharing what stores will be participating, where specifically the musicians will be performing and all of the other specific details.

"Hopefully we will see everybody there," Baumbach said.
