Town Gets Ice Cream Parlor

Martinsburg can boast of having one of the “niftiest and most up-to-date ice cream parlors” in this section of the state. Proprietor C.W. DeFord made his corner business into two upstairs apartments and converted the first floor into a tea room to accommodate large or small crowds. The furnishing of oriental rugs, marble-top tables, immense palms and colored lights produced “an effect that rivals the famous New York City gardens.”
