Henrietta
Kathleen Ellen Hunter, 70, of Henrietta, went home to be with her Lord, Friday evening, April 30, 2021, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.
She was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Harry J. and Ellen (Cates) Whitaker.
She married Daniel L. Hunter Aug. 3, 1968, in South Fork.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years; two daughters: Bernadette J. Hunter of Culpeper, Va. and Adrienne Y. Hunter of Martinsburg; a son, Donald E. Hunter (Tammy) of Martinsburg; and two grandchildren: Cody D. Hunter and Alexis C. Hunter.
Kathleen was preceded in death by a brother, Frank E. Whitaker.
She was a 1968 graduate of Central High School. Kathleen was employed for 22 years as a kindergarten teacher’s aide for the Fairfax County Public School in Virginia. She also worked for 10 years as the manager of the roller skating rink at the Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, Martinsburg.
Kathleen was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant United Church of Christ, rural Martinsburg, where she assisted with their youth programs. She was a member of the D. Merl Tipton V.F.W. Post 43 Auxiliary, Martinsburg and also served as her son’s Cub Scout leader.
She loved spending time with her family and faithfully attending church. Kathleen also enjoyed sewing, playing scrabble, doing puzzles and was an avid reader.
A memorial service was held Tues., May 4, 2021, at Mt. Pleasant United Church of Christ, rural Martinsburg. Pastor Kenneth G. Downs officiated.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Kathleen may be given to the Martinsburg Community Library (children and educational books), 211 S. Walnut St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
