NORTHERN BEDFORD

Lady Panthers Lose Close Dual To Bellwood

Northern Bedford’s Girls Track squad lost a close 81-69 decision to Bellwood at home Arril 20. The Panthers defeated Mt. Union 113-14 and are now 7-1 overall.

The Panthers demise was that they won just two events on the track. However, NB won all three throwing events highlighted by Senior Grace Burke’s PR in the Shot of 30-9 1/4”. Olivia Higgins (javelin) and Lizzie Long (discus) also won throwing events for the Panthers. Hailey Bollman (triple jump) was also a winner.

“We came very close to taking a huge win and the girls continue to surprise me with how they battle for every place and every point,” said Coach Jeff Batzel.

Aylisa Morral (100 Dash and 4 x 100 Relay) was the only double-winner for NB.

NB Splits Double Dual

Northern Bedford split a home double dual with Bellwood and Mt. Union April 20.

The Panthers defeated Mt. Union 99-50 while falling to Bellwood by an 86-64 score.

Ian Zimmerman and Conner Laird were double winners for NB. Zimmerman won the 800 and anchored the 3,200 relay while Laird won the 1600 and ran a leg on the 3,200 relay.

Mason Detterline had a win and two seconds for NB. He won the triple jump with a district leading jump of 42-3 1/2. Other individual winners for the Panthers included Noah Pittman (high jump), Brady Clark (pole vault), and Cadin Ebersole (100-meter dash).

“We needed all the breaks to go our way to have a chance tonight and that didn’t happen,” said Coach Jeff Batzel. “Nonetheless, I remain happy with our improvement and effort.”

NB is now 7-1.
