Connie Joyce Shatzer, 74, of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 24, 2021, at her home.
She was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Altoona, daughter of the late Joseph W. and Norma D. (Lang) Shatzer.
She is survived by a son, Todd J. (Connie) Shatzer of Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Todd D. and Emma Jo Shatzer; a sister, Lynne M. Ogershok (Joe) of Tyrone; three nieces: Jocelyn Shultz of Claysburg, Jodi Morris (Donnie) of Williamsburg and Erica Shatzer of Altoona; and a nephew, Mark (Joy) Shatzer of Glendale.
Connie was preceded in death by two brothers: Mark L. and Joseph N. Shatzer; and a niece, Marci Jo Shultz.
She was a 1964 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a 1967 graduate of the Altoona School for Nursing. Connie began her nursing career at the Altoona Hospital and later joined the Blair County Home Nursing Agency, where she worked for many years with their hospice program. As a hospice nurse she helped many patients and families. The love and compassion she displayed while working with hospice families, influenced a young boy named Tom Sweitzer to later create a musical TOOTLELOO.
Connie loved spending time with her family and long car rides. She also enjoyed singing and doing cross word puzzles.
Friends will be received from 1 until 2 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., (www.bolgerfuneralhome.com) Williamsburg, where a celebration of life service will follow at 2 p.m. Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg.
