As reported by Pennsylvania CareerLink Blair County, the following are statistics and feedback given on the job fair for the dislocated Appvion workers held on April 20:
The Numbers
• 93 workers attended; scheduled in staggered intervals to remain socially distanced
• 22 employers attended – selected for their key needs based on these workers’ skills
• 689 jobs/positions were represented by these employers
• 467 employer conversations with prospects were recorded
• 90 interviews or post-fair outreach appointments were scheduled by the employers (this does not include those who were referred to a website to apply)
• 6 agencies were on hand to answer questions on Trade Benefits, PA CareerLink services, Unemployment, Career & Technology classes, Health Insurance, Other needs such as Housing, Food, Utilities
Around 55 conversations held with Career & Technology Centers, with top interests including the following: HVAC, nursing, CDL certification, medical assistants (admin), business, cybersecurity, CNC milling and lathing
Around 30 conversations held with the unemployment representative
Around 30 conversations held with the trade representative

Employers
Best part was talking to prospects – mentioned by several employers
Meeting and talking with other employers about hiring issues – mentioned by several employers
Staggered employee groups was ideal; this should be the future of all job fairs
Very well organized; did a great job with COVID-19 precautions; a great turn out
Consistent traffic flow; good communications leading up to the event
Attendance was good. I was able to have good conversations with candidates because of the controlled scheduling
A good opportunity to promote our company
The folks who organized the job fair did a fantastic job and they were so kind. Organizers stopped by and introduced themselves and continued to check to see how I was doing.

Many workers took a company brochure, I gave out 48 of 50 applications. The job fair gave individuals future possibilities for a career and allowed them to explore their options
