Flooding, wildfires, heavy snow, ice, rain and high winds all show that weather is an important factor when planning any event, inside or outside.
Residents rely on meteorologists to provide their best scientific assessment of what we may experience today, tomorrow or in the days to come.
Bedford County Emergency Management Agency, along with the National Weather Service, State College office, is co-sponsoring a SKYWARN training event, online. The two-hour course offers weather facts and provides all participants certification as a SKYWARN Weather Spotter for the NWS, State College office.
"I am excited to offer this class to the public at no charge and in the comfort of their own home or office," said Dave Cubbison, Bedford County EMA coordinator. "This is a great way for a family to participate in a fun, educational event, that will help the community."
Cubbison said, "All ages have participated in this class in the past from scouts to high school and college students to senior citizens who have always wanted to know more about the weather. Everyone can be a SkyWarn Weather Spotter."
The schedule for the remote training is:
March 15 - 6:30 p.m . to 8:30 p.m.
March 23 - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
March 27 - 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
April 1 - 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
