The announced closing of the Appvion paper mill in Roaring Spring must have workers scratching their heads and wondering what the future holds.
The excellent Opinion article in last week’s Herald (“The Time for Action on the Mill is Now,” Herald of Feb. 25, 2021) outlined steps that the Cove community, elected leaders and others can take to keep the jobs local.
In a perfect world, good jobs would be found at New Enterprise Stone and Lime, the shoe factory in Martinsburg, the paper mill at Tyrone and other local businesses.
But the world is not perfect and some workers may have to look for jobs...
