REV. RAYMOND R. BOOSE

The Rev. Raymond R. Boose, 98, a cottage resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of Woodbury, went home to be with the Lord, Friday morning, Feb. 26, 2021, at The Village, following a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 26, 1922, in West Fallowfield Township, Chester County, son of the late Walter R. and Bertha M. (Hermess) Boose. He married Mary E. Stauffer on Dec. 30, 1946, in Baltimore, Md.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years; a son, Ronald R. Boose (Mary) of Bedford; three daughters: Audrey B. Cooper (Denny) of Martinsburg, Melanie K. Boose-Diehl (Fred) of Warriors Mark and Wendi M. Butterfoss (Bob) of Winston- Salem, N.C .; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Bertha Finkbiner of Lancaster, Nancy McAvoy of Yuba City, Calif., and Shirley Wenger of Manheim.

He was preceded in death by two great-grandsons: Jeremiah Jarrett and Weston Garland; and eight siblings.

Raymond was a 1940 graduate of McCaskey High School, Lancaster.

He was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving from 1943 until 1946, attaining the rank of corporal. Raymond later earned his bachelor of arts degree from Elizabethtown College in 1949 and in 1952 received his bachelor of divinity from the Bethany Theological Seminary.

He was ordained in 1950 in Lancaster, Atlantic Northeast District, and in 1952 Raymond began his 33 year pastoral career with the Church of the Brethren. During this time he faithfully served as pastor for various churches in Pennsylvania, including: Plum Creek, Scalp Level, Green Tree and for 14 years the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Rev. Raymond was also instrumental in the conception and building of mission churches in both Erie and Indiana. He was most recently a member of the Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren.

Raymond was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, who also proudly served his community as a board member for the Morrisons Cove Memorial Park and as the former board president.

He loved teaching children how to roller skate, swim and dive into the pool at the Morrisons Cove Park. Rev. Raymond also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no services at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date and inurnment will be held at Replogle Cemetery, Woodbury.
