Reward for Missing Claysburg Woman Increased to $10,000

A $10,000 reward is now being offered for information into the disappearance of a Claysburg woman nearly a decade ago.

Fawn Marie Mountain was last seen in 2012. In June 2018, the Herald ran a story on Mountain's family's search for answers. A portion of the story appears below.

From the Herald of June 28, 2018:

A family is seeking the public's help in trying to find answers to what happened to their daughter and cousin.

Fawn Marie Mountain, was 25 years old when she disappeared from her home in Brinks Mill Court, Claysburg, in 2012.

Although she was last seen in 2012, Mountain wasn't reported missing by her family until April 2015.

Fawn's cousin, Bridgette Gill, said the reason for the three-year delay in reporting Fawn missing is because Fawn had become isolated from her family and had cut off contact, so it was not unusual not to hear from her.

Fawn's mother, Dorothy, said her daughter was in a relationship with someone who didn't want her around her family, so Fawn had cut off communication, even going as far as having a restraining order issued against her mother.

According to Fawn's family, she was a troubled woman who faced a lot of hardships. Dorothy said that although her and Fawn had always had a strained relationship, her daughter knew she could always come to her when things got bad.

"We would get into fights and arguments," Dorothy said." But she would always come back."

The last time Dorothy saw her daughter was in October 2012. Dorothy said that her daughter had a restraining order against her but that she had gotten into a fight with her partner and ran to her house. That put Dorothy in violation of the court order and she spent a weekend in jail because of it.

It wasn't until three years later, in April 2015, that the family attempted to contact Fawn to inform her that her father was ill. Dorothy said she sent a family friend to the trailer in Claysburg where Fawn was living and was told by her partner that she "took off" three years ago.

Dorothy reported her daughter missing to the Greenfield Township Police Department, and after two years the case was taken over by the Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg.

"When she was told that Fawn had just run off in the middle of the night years ago, that's when Dorothy became really concerned and pushed for an investigation" Gill said.

The state police sent out a description of Fawn when she disappeared, saying she was "25 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 106 pounds. She had blue eyes, brown hair that was dyed auburn. She has a tattoo of angel wings with the word 'RIO Kaydin.'"

Gill said with so much time between Fawn's disappearance and her being reported missing, it is difficult to believe that she just simply walked away and has not attempted to contact her family.

"For Fawn to just leave, and not contact her family, not go and see her dad before he died, I just don't believe that," she said.

Dorothy said she wants closure. Although her and her daughter had a volatile relationship at times, she said she is living a nightmare.

"Yeh, we fought a lot," Dorothy said, "It could turn physical, but in the end we loved each other and could count on each other."

Gill said that although she doesnt want to say she has no hope of finding Fawn alive, her hope, at this point is finding answers.

"It's very important to us to find out what happened to Fawn, but at this point in time and under the current circumstances getting those answers no matter what they are is what we all need," she said.

Dorothy said she keeps looking at the door hoping her daughter will walk through.

"I just want to bring Fawn home, no matter what," she said.
