Boosters List Objectives

Herald of Feb. 14, 1946

The Martinsburg Booster Association listed five objectives for the 1946 program: Annexation of territory northeast of the borough; swimming pool for the Memorial Park; make borough streets and number buildings; curbs and sidewalks for W. Allegheny and S. Market Streets; appointment of aviation and good roads committee.

A fatal accident which occurred in Juniata on Feb. 11, resulted in the instant death of Edson Garfield Spangler, a P.R.R. employee residing in Williamsburg, when he was ground under the wheels of a street car while waiting to board a workmen’s bus for Williamsburg. He stepped between the rails of the eastbound line and was looking for his bus in the opposite direction and failed to see the approaching street car.

A program of colored slides showing farm homes and landscapes of Pennsylvania will feature the meeting of Loysburg Grange. The slides will be shown by Miss Maude Drumm and promise to be of much interest. A good attendance is expected.
