Milton V. Burgess, 96, of Martinsburg, former editor of the Morrisons Cove Herald, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 14, 1996, at the Homewood Retirement Center, where he had been a resident for several weeks. Mr. Burgess retired in 1982 after serving for 24 years as editor of the Herald, but he continued to write his “Local History” column in the Herald until last May. In addition to writing for this and other newspapers for 73 years, he was the author of several books, and his historical articles were quoted widely in other publications.
