Valentine's Day
Prior to last winter, I had never written a column concerning Valentine's Day. I intended that column as a tribute to Donna, my wife, and to all of the other wives of sportsmen who support – or at least tolerate – our outdoor activities. Several people stopped me downtown and complimented me on the column. However, a couple others asked me what I was thinking when I wrote the column.
"Holy cow, Rich," one said, "when you wrote that you gave your wife a fancy card, bought her flowers, and then took her out to eat at a nice restaurant, you made me look bad. I always take my wife out to eat, but...
