C-K Girls Move Record to 5-2

The Claysburg-Kimmel High School girls' basketball team welcomed Bellwood-Antis to town Feb. 4. The Lady Blue Devils built a 13-point halftime lead and held off C-K at the end 50-44.

Junior Bailey Garver hit two 3-pointers and finished tied with game-high honors with 16 points. Junior Rebekah Claar added 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who connected on only five of their 14 opportunities from the free-throw line. B-A was 5-for-6 from the stripe.

C-K junior Kaylee Haney grabbed nine rebounds.

• C-K 57, West Branch 31: The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 36-14 halftime lead against visiting West Branch and cruised to a 57-31 victory Feb. 5.

C-K junior Rebekah Claar poured in a game-high 23 points, including four 3-pointers. Senior Harleigh Cavender added 13 points, while junior Bailey Garver scored 10.

• C-K 66, Southern Huntingdon 59: Host C-K grabbed a 22-14 lead after one quarter and hung on to defeat Southern Huntingdon 66-59 on Feb. 6. Southern Huntingdon closed the gap to 37-33 at halftime, but after each team scored 11 points in the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs had an 18-15 scoring edge in the final eight minutes. The win pushed C-K's overall mark to 5-2.

Junior Rebekah Claar tossed in a game-high 28 points, including two 3-pointers, to pace C-K. Junior Bailey Garver added 18 points, including two 3-pointers, while senior Kalei Carson (two 3-pointers) and junior Kaylee Hainey each scored eight.
