FRED N. IMLER SR.

Fred N. Imler Sr, 87, of Hollidaysburg, went home to join his loved ones, who have gone before him, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021.

He was born April 30, 1933, a son of Lester P. and Mary Christine Imler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Richard and Darrell Imler and his beloved wife, Joann, who passed on Oct. 26, 2014.

In 1952 he married Joann (Erb). They spent a wonderful 63 years together. They were blessed with four children: Nancy Morgan (Harry), Cheryl Davis, Fred Imler II (Cherrie Henry) and Karen Hetrick (Barry).

He is survived by his four children, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and his significant other and traveling companion, Audrey Burgan of Altoona.

He attended and graduated from Hollidaysburg High School.

Fred spent his entire life in the family business, Imler's Poultry. Six generations strong, with Fred Imler Sr. being the fourth generation. The business had to adapt and change over the years, changing locations several times as the company grew. He was an active, vibrant presence in the business, actively participating until his death.

Fred was a man bigger than life, dedicated to his God, family and numerous passions. He has touched the lives of thousands of individuals and organizations.

Grace United Church of Christ has been his church home. He was a member there since birth and provided generous support to the church. He was a member of the Altoona Jaffa Shrine Center for more than 50 years, served as potentate in 1980, was recognized by the Imperial Potentate with the Award of Merit, and held various posts within the Shrine. The Shriners Children's Hospital was one of his passions. As a member of the board, he made many trips to Philadelphia, a long drive, but he was always there. As many can attest his motto for driving was "Leave Late, Arrive Early."

He loved to attend the local produce auctions and would return with truckloads of vegetables and flowers; he felt a deep commitment to support the local produce auctions. 4-H was also one of the causes near and dear to his heart. His participation at the 4-H sales are too numerous to mention. There were many other organizations that had his support, his presence will be greatly missed.

A funeral was held Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at the Jaffa Shrine Center in Altoona. Interment was made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Fred please be made to the Jaffa Shriners, PO Box 1984, Altoona, PA 16603-1984; or to the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation, 1330 Eleventh Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
