LOUISE P. SPECK

Altoona, formerly of Williamsburg

Louise P. Speck, 84, of Altoona, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 17, 2020, at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

She was born March 14, 1936, in Warriors Mark, daughter of the late James and Geraldine (Wilson) Peters. On June 29, 1957, she married Peter Speck in Altoona. He preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1997.

Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Gorsuch (Richard L.) of Williamsburg; a son, Mark Speck (Elise) of Horseheads, N.Y .; two granddaughters: Natalie N. and Julie M. Gorsuch, both of Altoona; three siblings: Kenneth Peters of Las Vegas, Nev., and James Peters and Nancy Snyder both of Phoenix, Ariz .; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Janet Sawyer and Mary Ruth Anderson.

Louise was a 1954 graduate of Williamsburg High School. Following graduation she worked at Gerald Turner's Law Office in Martinsburg and then in 1969 she began her career with the Williamsburg Public Library, retiring in 1998 after 29 years of service.

She was longtime member of St. Mary's Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, rural Williamsburg, and also a member of Martinsburg Business and Professional Women's Club.

Louise loved spending time with her family, watching John Wayne movies and reading. She also enjoyed researching and learning about Abraham's Lincoln's life and the history of the Civil War.

A celebration of life service will be held and announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions in memory of Louise can be given to Williamsburg Public Library, 511 W. Second Street, Williamsburg, PA 16693.
