Old Oder Mennonite Memoirs

"The storm crashed down behind me, lightning bolts chasing me like a pack of bloodhounds, thunder screaming at me."

These words grabbed me in the first sentence of Randy Alcorn's book, "Edge of Eternity," and so began my surreal journey with Nick Seagrave. It is wildly imaginative and dramatic, besides being a bit too unrealistic for me, so much so that I don't "get it." When I do understand the metaphors, I back up and read again, so I can be "with it."

But I liked how he described his co-travelers, for example: "The white-haired man...... had the face of February, full of frost and darkness....
