Williamsburg School Board Re-elects England President

Series: Williamsburg | Story 107

Dr. Barry England will once again preside over the Williamsburg Community School Board after a vote during the Dec. 1 school board meeting.

Julie Woodling was elected vice president. Act 32 reappointments were also approved during the meeting: Kalie Zabrosky, primary voting delegate; and Melissa Lindermann, alternate.

The school board then transitioned into the regular board meeting. Junior Pheasant was once again named the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center representative, with Ben Postles being named the alternate.

The board adopted Act 1 Tax Resolution, a resolution that the board approves each year to state that the district would not raise taxes above the state provided index for the following school year.

The board approved to not raise taxes in the 2021-22 budget that would exceed the state index of 0.378.

Superintendent Lisa Murgas praised the community for an 87 percent (elementary) and 97 percent (high school) first-day attendance for the virtual program.

“I’m very proud,” Murgas said.
