Below are the words of a longtime friend of our family and someone with family, roots and connections in the Cove. The Herald is not releasing identifying information to protect this person’s employment. However, the Herald assures its readers that this person is real, is currently working as a medical professional, and is not exaggerating.

This medical professional was providing news that a former employee of Karen Bassler’s had been hospitalized with a COVID-19-related illness and was not doing well. We’ll call this former employee “Charlie” to protect his privacy. Charlie is 48.
