Taylor Township supervisors Joseph Dilling, chairman; William Replogle, vice chairman; and Paul Closson, supervisor; held their regular monthly meetings on Oct. 5 and Nov. 2, 2020.
At the October meeting there was a lengthly discussion about the intersection of State Route 36 and Cross Cove Road where there have been many accidents. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) representatives Ernie Casino and Ed Steinburghl attended the meeting. Members of the Taylor Township community were also at the meeting to express their concerns. A citizen said, “we are scared about that intersection” and another said he was concerned about the amount of congestion at the intersection. Residents are also concerned about the number of deaths that have occurred there. Accidents occur in all directions and are caused by human error, sight problems and glare from the setting sun.
Citizens said to the PennDOT representatives, “we need your help.” PennDOT said that a speed study could be undertaken to help resolve some problems. Township Secretary Barbara Greenleaf said that she will post a letter to PennDOT the next day to request that study.
At the November meeting taxes for 2021 were approved at the same rate as 2020; property at .271 percent and fire at .059 percent, totaling .330 percent.
The supervisors approved the purchase of new tires for one of the township trucks. Other road concerns were tabled for the next meeting.
Most of the rest of the items on the agenda were postponed until the December meeting because of time restraints because the election board needed to set up for the next day’s election.
