Area ministeriums have cancelled their community Thanksgiving services due to the recent rise in numbers of those affected by COVID-19.
The Claysburg-East Freedom Ministerium will broadcast its Thanksgiving service Sunday, Nov. 22, at 6:30 p.m. via Facebook and YouTube. The Rev Calvin Miller of United Methodist Claysburg, Queen and Weyant will be the speaker.
Donations or offerings may be sent to the Claysburg Ministerium, c/o David Maxwell, Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, 405 Upper Claar Road, Claysburg, PA 16625.
The Southern Cove-Yellow Creek Ministerium discussed in October that each pastor would encourage his/her congregation to give thanks individually in other ways.
Free Thanksgiving Meals
Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring, will serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26. Meals will be take-out only.
The New Enterprise Church of the Brethren will serve a free community Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
Meals will also be take-out only. Volunteers will deliver meals to those who can’t get out to pick them up at the New Enterprise church.
