NBC Girls

Seeded fifth in the District 5 Class 1A soccer playoffs, Northern Bedford traveled to fourth-seeded Berlin Brothersvalley and earned a 2-1 victory Oct. 28.

Berlin grabbed a 1-0 lead before Sidney Coffey and Abby Kline scored first-half goals for Northern Bedford. Ashley Kichman and Lydia Ritchey were credited with assists in the win.

NB’s season came to a close Nov. 2 with a 3-0 loss at Fannett-Metal in a District 5 semifinal game.

NBC Boys

Xander Brown scored two goals and assisted on one as Everett knocked off Northern Bedford, 4-1, Oct. 31 to advance to the District 5 semifinal game.

Spencer Weaver had a goal and an assist and David Rice scored the other goal. Reyan Imler scored the lone goal for Northern Bedford on a penalty kick.

Central Boys

A second-half unassisted goal by Zach Gahagan lifted Central to a 1-1 tie that at Bald Eagle Area on Oct. 14. Neither team was able to score in the two overtimes. Zeb Wyant made 13 saves for the Dragons.

The Dragons closed out their season with a 4-0 home loss to Penns Valley on Oct. 20 and a 2-0 loss at Philipsburg-Osceola on Oct. 22.

Central finished the 2020 campaign with a record of 2-14-1.

Central Girls

The Central High School girls’ soccer team, seeded eighth, battled unbeaten and top-seeded Bedford in a District 6 Class AA quarterfinal game on Oct. 26.

Grace Sarver scored the game’s lone goal off an assist from Katelyn Shaffer at the 35:15 mark to lifted Bedford to the victory.

Bedford improved to 11-0, while Central closed its season with a 7-7-3 record.
