Martinsburg
Helen Ruth Hamm, 96, of Martinsburg, passed away Friday evening, Nov. 6, 2020, at The Village at Morrisons Cove.
She was born July 16, 1924, in Martinsburg, daughter of the late H. Elvin and Ruth Emma (Dilling) Cunningham. On Dec. 11, 1943, she married Orville Leonard Hamm in Martinsburg. He preceded her in death July 9, 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie J. Davis (husband, Dick) of Acme; a son, Robert D. Hamm of Martinsburg; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon K. Thompson; a son, Randy L. Hamm; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Lee Feathers; two sisters: Hazel Thomas and Dorothy Steele; and four brothers: Raymond, Earl, Lloyd "Buck" and William "Bill".
Helen was a 1942 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg. She worked as a waitress at Teeter's Restaurant, Martinsburg, and also cleaned houses for many family and neighbors in the Cove.
She was longtime, active member of Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren. Helen also served faithfully for the Martinsburg Vol. Fire Company and D. Merl Tipton VFW Post 43, Martinsburg auxiliaries.
Helen loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed cooking, baking and doing jigsaw puzzles.
A funeral was held Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, at Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, Pastor Chris Garretson officiated.
Private interment was held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
