Martinsburg Police Chief Recognized for Security Work During Trump Visit

The chief of police of Martinsburg borough was recognized for his efforts in the planning and execution of the security detail for President Donald J. Trump during his visit to Morrisons Cove on Oct. 26 during the Nov. 2 meeting of the Martinsburg Borough Council.

During the meeting, Mayor Richard Brantner Sr. read a letter to attendees that recognized Chief of Police Kerry L. Hoover for his efforts on the day President Donald J. Trump visited Morrisons Cove on Oct. 26.

The following letter that Mayor Brantner read was written by David P Rosamilia, chief of police for the North Woodbury Township Police Department:

"I wanted to take the time to recognize Chief of Police Kerry Hoover for all his efforts during the Presidential Rally of Donald J Trump at the Altoona Blair County Airport event on October 26th 2020.

"Chief Hoover was an instrumental part of the Presidential Event running smoothly. Chief Hoover served as the (Assistant Mobile Command Post Commander) during the Presidential Rally and served as a liaison between Local, State and Federal Police Agencies. Chief Hoover was invaluable from the beginning of the first briefing until the motorcade exited President Trump from the area. Along with many other roles, Chief Hoover assisted in the location of security posts for the event and was invaluable with logistic information of the area and his leadership skills during the event were paramount.

"It was a privilege to work with Chief Kerry Hoover and his help was very much appreciated and the event success only happened because of Chief Hoovers endless hours of hard work and dedication to the mission.

"I was honored to be involved in the planning and execution of the security detail for President Trump," said Chief Hoover, who was surprised to hear the recognition from Chief Rosamilia. "I was just doing my job. I consider him [Trump] the most important person in the world right now and I feel that it was a historical event to have him conduct a rally at our local airport. I am happy that I could contribute my experience and knowledge of the area to make it a safe venue for his visit."
