The Northern Bedford cross country teams split their meets with visiting Bellwood-Antis on Oct. 14.
NB scored a 26-29 victory over B-A in the girls' meet, while B-A won the boys' meet, 27-29.
The Lady Panthers' Harley Socie took first in the girls' race in 23 minutes, 54.3 seconds. NB's Emilee Sherlock was second in 23:55. Hailey Bollman placed fifth for NB in 29:23.
NB's Ian Zimmerman placed first in the boys' race with a time of 15:23.9. The Panthers' Connor Laird came in third place (18:33), while teammates Justin Grine (20:15) and Jay Reed (21:27) placed seventh and ninth, respectively.
Led by Ian Zimmerman's first-place finish, the Northern Bedford boys's squad won the Inter-County Cross Country Championships on Oct. 22 at Juniata Valley. The Panthers finished with 58 team points, ahead of runner-up West Branch (73 points).
Zimmerman won the boys' race with a time of 16:07. Nick Strayer placed seventh (19:41), while teammate Connor Laird was ninth (20:01). Justin Grine was 14th (21:02).
In the girls' race, NB's Emilee Sherlock finished second in 23:28. Williamsburg's Kelsie Butler finished third (23:59), while NB's Harley Socie came across the finish line in fourth place (24:17). NB's Hailey Bollman finished in 11th place (26:10), while Williamsburg's Hannah Brenneman came in 14th place (26:46).
NB's Ian Zimmerman captured his fourth straight District 5 Class 1A Cross Country Championship on Oct. 27 at the Bedford County Technical Center course.
Zimmerman claimed the district title with a winning time of 16:10, 1:09 ahead of the runner-up finisher, Chestnut Ridge's Calan Bollman. NB's Connor Laird placed ninth (18:23), while Nick Strayer finished 11th (19:18). Justin Grine was 21st (20:21), and Jay Reed rounded out the Panther finishers in 22nd place (20:25).
NB's Emilee Sherlock placed fourth in the girls' race, finishing in 22:08. Harley Socie finished seventh in 22:51. Hailey Bollman finished in 23rd place (25:38).
