NBC

Claysburg-Kimmel visited Northern Bedford on Oct. 19 and, for the second time this year, won the meeting of the local rivals by a 3-0 margin.

Claysburg won all three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-14, 26-24. The Panthers made things very interesting in the third set by taking a 14-10 lead before the Bulldogs chipped away and eventually took a close win to close out the match.

Haileigh Reed had 18 service points for the Bulldogs. Emalee Cavender had five aces and three kills.

Addie Sipes had eight service points for NB.

Northern Bedford showed steps to improvement Oct. 20 with a nice road win at McConnellsburg. The Panthers swept the Spartans 25-21, 25-21, 25-23.

Addie Sipes, Jenna Carberry and Lainie Sipes each had 10 service points for NB. Makayla Kochara had a big night with 13 kills, while Addie Sipes and Lydia Byler added eight and five assists, respectively.

Fannett Metal defeated NBC 3-0 in volleyball action Oct., 22. The host Tigers won by scores of 25-5, 25-8, 25-10. Addie Sipes had three kills for NB, while Jenna Carberry and Lainie Sipes added three digs each for the Panthers (2-13).

Northern Bedford continued its late-season surge with a 3-2 victory over Southern Fulton at home Oct. 26. The Panthers, now 3-13 overall, have been playing well as of late and have won two of their last three games.

After a convincing 25-16 win in the first set, NB lost 25-19 in the second set. The Panthers regained momentum with a dominating 25-11 win but couldn’t close out the pesky Indians who went the distance to take a 26-24 win in the fourth set to set up a decisive 5th set.

NB took a spirited 15-11 win in the final set to close out the match and take the win.

Walter had 17 service points including 11 aces to pace the Panthers. Addie Sipes had 12 kills, Lydia Byler had six assists and Makayla Kochara had five blocks to lead the Panthers statistically.

Laine Sipes chipped in with 15 service points and 13 digs.

Central and Northern Bedford met in a non-league volleyball contest at Northern Bedford on Oct. 28. Central prevailed in three straight sets that were very competitive. The Lady Dragons took 25-22, 26-24 and 25-19 victories.

Brooke Claar’s 13 kills paced the Lady Dragons, while Brinley Bowers added an impressive 28 assists. Kirsten Ayers chipped in with eight kills.

Addie Sipes, Makayla Kochara and Lizzie Long each had seven kills each for NBC. Sipes had 10 assists for the Lady Panthers.

Central

The Lady Dragons hosted Clearfield on Oct. 22 and earned a hard-fought, five-set victory, 25-21, 17-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-12. Haylie Mingle served a CHS-high 14 points. Brinley Bowers dished out 34 assists, while Brooke Claar added 19 kills.

Central hosted Philipsburg-Osceola on Oct. 27 and fell in straight sets, 25-11, 25-6, 25-12. Haylie Mingle served for five points to lead the Lady Dragons. Brinley Bowers added eight assists, while Brooke Claar and Kirsten Ayers had three kills each.

C-K

The Lady Bulldogs earned a straight-set win at Southern Fulton on Oct. 21. C-K won by the scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-19. Ally Dicken had 23 service points for C-K. Harleigh Cavender added 19 assists and 13 service points, while Emalee Cavender had eight kills and Haileigh Reed and Rebekah Claar six kills each.

Seventh-seeded C-K was scheduled to host 11th-seeded Purchase Line on Monday, Nov. 2, in the first round of the District 6 Class 1A playoffs.
