The game of the year in nearly everybody’s book will be played this Saturday in Roaring Spring. NB will try to complete its first undefeated season in the 13-year history of the school against a powerful Central team.
Although the pension plan proposed by Combined Paper Mills, Inc., was accepted last week by striking employees at the Roaring Spring plant, the strike is continuing until a full contract agreement is reached.
The cornerstone of the Gibson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Martinsburg was opened by Earl Miller of Everett, who is razing the building for Rex Hershberger. Inside the stone was an 1859 Mason jar containing coins, a small testament, a newspaper and some postage certificates. All but the coins was wet and deteriorated.
Martinsburg Borough Council is considering enforcement of its 50-year-old ordinance requiring property owners to build and maintain sidewalks across the front of their properties.
A $2,000 mortgage payment was authorized by the Memorial Pool board.
