Roaring Spring
Robert L. Feathers Sr., 95, of Roaring Spring, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, Oct. 7, 2020, at his home.
He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Sproul, the son of the late Howard and Marie (Mowery) Feathers. He married Maxine E. Weise on Feb. 10, 1950. She preceded him in death Dec. 16, 2007.
He is survived by five children: Deborah Conner and husband John of Duncansville, Kerry Feathers and wife Susan of Florida, Shelby Feathers and wife Sherry of Tennessee, Marsha Johnston and husband Ritchie of East Freedom and Melody Hartman and husband Brian of Duncansville; a daughter-in-law, Candace Feathers of Tennessee; 15 grandchildren: Leah, Annissa, Charity, Tshanina, Megan, Chad, Joshua, Jackie, Katrina, Kraig, Andrew, Isaac, Annelise, Benjamin and Cherith; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Feathers Jr.; a brother, Roy Feathers; and a sister, Edna Gonsman.
Bob was a member of the Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, where he had taught Sunday school, and served as a deacon and as a lay minister in the local area.
He was a 1944 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and a 1958 graduate of the Altoona Bible Institute.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving in World War II aboard the USS Reuben James and during the Korean War on the USS Cambria.
He retired from Suburban Propane in 1987 after 32 years of service.
He enjoyed gardening and hunting, and he especially loved ministering for his God and church.
A funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Dry Run Independent Baptist Church. His son Pastor Kerry Feathers and Pastor John Leatherman officiated.
Interment was made in Dry Run Cemetery.
