Martha A. "Marty" Bush, 94, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday evening, Sept. 30, 2020, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She was born Jan. 10, 1926, in the village of Maria along Potter Creek in Bedford County, daughter of the late Thomas and Abi Blanch (Hitechew) Claycomb. On May 24, 1943, she married John H. Bush in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death Sept. 17, 2004.

Surviving are three children: John H. Jr. (Pamela) Bush, Jolene Fouse (Fred) and Michael D. (Bonnie) Bush; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Norma Imler, Ida Hay and Anna Mary Clapper; a brother, Clyde Claycomb; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Stanley, Harrison and Robert Claycomb; and a sister, Dorothy Reighard.

Martha held various jobs throughout her lifetime, including working at the shoe, parachute and egg factories during World War II. In her early years of marriage she cleaned houses and worked at the cannery in Martinsburg. She also worked for a short time at Dar-Wil Dairy in rural Martinsburg. Martha then completed a nurse's aide program along with her aunt Ida. From that point Martha worked for private individuals and also at the old and new Nason hospitals. She finished her nurse's aide career working for the Morrisons Cove Home in Martinsburg, where she retired after 26 years of service.

She was a longtime member of Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren and a member of the Martinsburg Women's Civic Club. Martha loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, collecting antique glass, crocheting and volunteering for the Red Cross blood drives. She also enjoyed square dancing, bowling, going to yard sales, caning chairs and refinishing antique furniture.

A private funeral service will be held with Pastor Chris Garretson officiating.

Private interment will be held at Holsinger Cemetery, Bakers Summit.
