Week 3 of the high school football season will feature all four Morrisons Cove area teams playing away from their respective homes Friday, Sept. 25.
Central (2-0), playing away from the Roaring Spring Athletic Field for the third straight week, will travel to Philipsburg-Osceola (1-0) for a Mountain League game. In Inter-County Conference action, Mountain League battle. Claysburg-Kimmel (1-1) will play at Southern Huntingdon (2-0), Northern Bedford (1-1) will visit Moshannon Valley (1-1) and Williamsburg (1-1) will travel to Tussey Mountain (2-0).
All games will kick off at 7 p.m.
Central at
Philipsburg-Osceola
The Dragons are coming off a 26014 win at Bellefonte on Sept. 18. P-O, meanwhile, had its game with Penns Valley on Sept. 18 postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
Central owns the series against P-O, having won 11 of the 14 meetings since 2006. The Dragons own an eight-game wining streak against the Mounties, including winning last year's matchup, 49-7. The average margin of victory for CHS during the winning streak is 41.5 points. P-O scored a 32-20 victory in 2011.
Claysburg-Kimmel at
Southern Huntingdon
The Bulldogs opened up a 26-7 lead against visiting Tussey Mountain on Sept. 18, only to watch the Titans rally for a 33-26 overtime victory. Southern Huntingdon was a 32-14 winner against Mount Union.
Southern Huntingdon owns a 7-4 record against C-K since 2004. The Bulldogs' 31-29 victory over the Rockets in 2019 ended a five-game losing streak in the series. C-K's previous win before last year was 14-7 in 2013.
Northern Bedford at Moshannon Valley
The Panthers won their first game of the season Sept. 18, scoring a 40-0 victory at Glendale. Moshannon Valley lost to West Branch, 42-7, Sept. 19.
Since 2007, Northern Bedford hold a 5-4 series edge against Moshannon Valley. The Panthers have won the last three meetings, including 47-6 last season. Valley's last win against NB was in 2016, 35-14,
Williamsburg at
Tussey Mountain
The Blue Pirates ended a 21-game losing streak Sept. 18, knocking off visiting Juniata Valley, 14-9. Tussey Mountain is coming off its come-from-behind victory at Claysburg-Kimmel the same evening.
Since 2004, the Titans are 12-4 against the Blue Pirates, including 10 straight wins from 2005 through 2014. In the last five meetings, WHS owns a 3-2 lead. The Titans have won the last two games in the series, including 48-14 in 2019. WHS was a 35-22 winner in 2017.
Looking Ahead
On Oct. 2, Central will travel to Huntingdon, C-K will play at Juniata Valley, Northern Bedford will entertain Everett and Williamsburg will play host to Bellwood-Antis.
All games are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
